Every working day more than one million people have an appointment at their local GP surgery. It’s a subject that is likely to garner a great deal of headlines in the run up to the election. The GP Patient Survey tells us what patients think of those services – last year 71% of people reported a good overall experience of their GP practice. But results can vary significantly between practices and we often get asked what that means for practices. Does this variation reflect real differences in the service provided or will practices with fewer resources and dealing with ‘tougher’ populations always achieve poorer results?
